Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Union minister of state Som Prakash on Wednesday asked Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut not to make “unnecessary comments” against Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who led the Khalistan movement, and the Sikh community. Som Parkash said his remarks were in response to the comments made by Kangana Ranaut, the BJP’s Lok Sabha MP from Mandi, during a television interview in which she called Bhindranwale a “terrorist”. In a post on X, Som Parkash said, “Kangana Ranaut must restrain from making unnecessary comments against sant Jarnail singh and sikh community. Such remarks hurt the feelings of Sikh community. She must remain in discipline. No body should be allowed to disturb peace in Punjab.” Kangana Ranaut must restrain from making unnecessary comments against sant Jarnail singh and sikh community. Talking to The Indian Express, Som Parkash said, “I have just said that nobody should be allowed to hurt peace and harmony in the state. What Kangana is doing is not right and the party has already distanced itself from her statement”. Earlier, former IAS Jagmohan Singh Raju, who contested the Punjab Assembly elections as a BJP candidate from Amritsar East, appealed to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to be "overcautious" and ask the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to ensure that Kangana Ranaut-starrer Emergency “has no content that could be construed as hurtful to Sikh sentiments."
