Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh leaves for Dubai, days before punishment for Sukhbir Badal’s ‘religious misconduct’ to be announced

Faridkot MP Sarabjit Singh and Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh’s father, Tarsem Singh, reportedly met the Jathedar on Wednesday with a similar demand.

Sources said Giani Raghbir Singh’s Dubai visit would allow him to avoid pressure from groups advocating strict action against Sukhbir Badal.

Earlier, while declaring Sukhbir Badal guilty of religious misconduct, Giani Raghbir Singh said, “Decisions made during Sukhbir Badal’s tenure as deputy chief minister and president of the SAD (Shiromani Akali Dal) since 2007 have negatively impacted the SAD, and its condition has deteriorated. Sikh interests have been harmed. Sukhbir Badal will remain a ‘tankhaiya’ (guilty individual) until he apologises for his sins.”

Without directly addressing the allegations, Sukhbir Badal later in a letter to Sri Akal Takht Sahib sought unconditional forgiveness from Guru Sahib.

Meanwhile, singer Rocky Mittal has uploaded a song ‘Sajish Da Shikar Ho Rha Apna Sukhbir’ on YouTube. The song portrays Sukhbir Badal as a victim of a conspiracy.

Though Sukhbir Badal’s party SAD has not openly endorsed this song, its supporters are sharing it widely.
