Jakhar wants MLAs as shadow observers in every govt dept

Congress Legislative Party leader and Abohar MLA Sunil Kumar Jakhar wants to have shadow observers to keep a tab on various ministries in the state.

Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader and Abohar MLA Sunil Kumar Jakhar wants to have shadow observers to keep a tab on various ministries in the state. “It is not possible for one person to look after the functioning of the entire government,so we plan to appoint our MLAs as shadow observers who will see how a minister is performing, whether the particular department is functioning properly or not, where improvements are needed and much more,” said Jakhar.

He added that this way,one MLA could look after several departments and the Congress could keep a hawk’s eye on every ministry.

Such a system,if introduced and implemented, will be the first of its kind in Punjab. The MLAs plan to bring the irregularities of every government department before the public. Jakha added,“Apart from this we had asked the state government, even in their previous tenure,to bring a white paper on the budget. If they fail to present one,we will be presenting a ‘black paper’. A detailed presentation will be given on the state’s financial health and the goof-ups of every state department.”

He added,“The state currently has a debt of Rs 2,000 crore and the interest is mounting.” Talking about the water shortage problem in Abohar,Jakhar said that he has asked the DC,Fazilka,to inform him of the status of the funds which were received before code of conduct for the sewer disposal work. “It seems that we need to meet the CM again as he has forgotten about the problem in this town,” said Jakhar.
