International symposium on Le Corbusier: Master Plan-2031 to aid in city’s infra growth, waste management, says Sumit Kaur

Former UT chief architect Sumit Kaur and UT’s current chief architect Kapil Setia spoke on the outcomes of Master Plan-2031 Sunday.
The architects were speaking on the third day of an international symposium which is being organised by the UT Administration to mark the death anniversary of Le Corbusier.

On the occasion, Kaur highlighted some of the goals of the plan, which included enhancement of the city’s green cover, ushering in of pedestrian-friendly development, provision of housing to all, development of critical infrastructure and local and regional tourism, and implementation of large-scale urbanisation and solid waste management. Kaur also talked about the Capitol Complex and the world heritage status which is awaited.

On Sunday, speakers elaborated on themes such as ‘Chandigarh Heritage is World Heritage’ and ‘Roads Ahead: Garden City to Smart City’. B V Doshi, Jacques Sbriglio, Jagan Shah, John Bass, Martino Stierli, Michel Richard, Rahul Mehrotra, Raj Rewal, Rajnish Wattas, S D Sharma, William J R Curtis, and Kavita Singh, Director Tourism, were present on the occasion.
