Inquiry commission on Hondh-Chillar massacre an eyewash: Dal Khalsa
Firing a salvo against Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for misleading the Sikhs, the Dal Khalsa on Thursday said that the one-man commission constituted by his government on March 5 to probe into the killings of 32 Sikhs in village Hondh-Chillar has turned out to be a damp squib.
Notably, the Hooda government had,on March 5,constituted a one-man inquiry commission headed by Justice (retd) TP Garg to probe the massacre. In his statement,Hooda had said that the commission would submit its report to the state government as soon as possible, but not later than six months from the date of its first sitting.
Expressing their anger against Haryana government,Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh and senior leader Satnam Singh Paonta Sahib said seven months have elapsed and it was high time the CM explained to the public about the progress if any the commissioned has made.
Seven months is not a short period. To best of our knowledge, and according to kin of the victims, the commission has not even started its proceedings let alone complete it within the given timeframe, they alleged.
We called up the victims family members presently stationed at Ludhiana and they confirmed that they being an eyewitness none from the commission has contacted them so far to get their statement recorded, the duo claimed, adding that This reflects the non-seriousness and indifferent approach of the Haryana government towards the community.
Once again,we,the Sikhs have been made to understand that there would be no justice either for the anti-Sikh carnage in Delhi or for Hondh-Chiller killings and the reason being the complicity of the Congress high command in the killings, they alleged.
They also took a dig at the Shiromani Akali Dal for not keeping tab on developments in the case despite being in government in Punjab. Akalis take interest in such issues only when there are elections or if there is a public outcry. Otherwise they sleep over such sensitive issues, they said.
It may be noted that on November 2,1984,the entire Hondh-Chillar village was burnt down along with its Sikh population.
