Sahney said out of the 91 Indian men, who have claimed that they were inducted into the Russian army against their will, eight have been killed and 15 are being repatriated. Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney said on Monday the Russian army has released 15 Indian men, including four from Punjab, and they are being repatriated to India. Sahney said most of these are currently in a hostel in Russia, and are likely to arrive in Delhi on Monday night.
Sahney said out of the 91 Indian men, who have claimed that they were inducted into the Russian army against their will, eight have been killed and 15 are being repatriated. He added the contracts for the rest of the 69 men are being invalidated and he hoped that they would return very soon.
Sahney said his office is in constant touch with the stranded men and their families back home.
Sahney said he has been taking up the issue strongly with the Indian Embassy in Russia and also with the Russian Embassy in New Delhi since March 2024. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking up the issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Russia.
