Punjab CM Mann’s close aide is chief information commissioner

Inderpal Singh Dhanna is considered to be close to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Dhanna replaces former director general of police Suresh Arora, who retired in September 2023.

Senior Advocate and Additional Advocate General (AAG) Inderpal Singh Dhanna has been appointed the next chief information commissioner (CIC) of Punjab.

Punjab Communications Director Baltej Pannu made the announcement on social media.

Dhanna, who is considered to be close to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, replaces former director general of police Suresh Arora, who retired as CIC in September 2023. Earlier, the name of A Venu Prasad, former additional chief secretary to CM Mann, had been making the rounds for the CIC post.

After Dhanna’s appointment, the post of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) chairperson is also likely to be filled. Former IPS Jatinder Aulakh is among the front-runners for the post.
