Women wear is not the only thing for which Pakistani women are known for. Nowadays, women in the country are running slaughter houses, stores of perishable items; they are in service sector, running educational institutes, herbal products and much more, said Kokab Parveen, executive member of the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry,Pakistan. Parveen said 90 per cent of the workers in handicraft, embroidery and womenwear sectors were women. She was in Ludhiana on Sunday to participate in an exhibition. Last time,I had come with a delegation of six other women entrepreneurs and we had a record sale at the exhibition. Looking at the thumping response, this time 22 women had applied for visa, but due to Commonwealth Games,21 application were rejected. I am the lone participant this time. Visa formalities need to be simplified to boost trade ties between the two countries, said Parveen. She added: A lot of image building has been done about Pakistani women entrepreneurs and now we send our members to Europe for training so as to cater to their demands. Parveen also heads the fair and exhibition committee for central and north Punjab province of Pakistan.
