In Jalandhar,he asks people: Have you benefited from UPA’s schemes?

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi,during his visit to Basti Sheikh in Jalandhar,put up several questions before the masses,asking them whether they had benefited from UPA government’s welfare schemes in the last five years.

While declaring state Congress president Captain benefited Singh as the party’s chief ministerial candidate,Rahul asked him to focus on the prevailing drug menace in the state and provide ample employment opportunities to the youth after becoming the CM.

While discussing various achievements of the UPA government,including the Right to Information Act,MNREGA scheme and waiving off Rs 60,000 crore farmers’ debt,Rahul said the Congress makes such policies by going to the people in the villages while BJP only picks up slogans like “India Shining” from a TV programme. “They do politics on television while Congress visits the houses of the aim adami and eat with them. This the difference between us and BJP,” said Rahul.

Targeting the BJP’s veteran leader L K Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra,Rahul said: “BJP leaders are talking about corruption. But they don’t see corruption in Punjab,Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh where BJP governments are ruling.”

While speaking on the Lokpal issue,Rahul said that while the Congress had brought a strong Lokpal Bill in the Parliament,but BJP refused to make the Bill a reality. “We wanted to make it a constitutional body like the Chief Election Commissioner office,but BJP killed it.” he said.
