I was forcibly evicted from Shivalikview,says tenant

“I met the officials concerned including Managing Director,CITCO,DK Tiwari and represented my case,but to no avail. Despite repeatedly requesting CITCO to provide an alternative site,my pleas fell on deaf ears. On April 20,I got an eviction notice,asking me to vacate the office within 15 days. I moved court and notices were issued to CITCO for May 3. This morning,a team of officials came and barged into my office and forcibly threw the furniture and my belongings out of the premises. Despite showing them all the documents,they refused to listen and carried on. They pushed us out of the office and sealed it,” Gureja told Newsline.

A group of tenants and CITCO had locked horns over possession of office spaces in the shopping arcade area of the hotel. While several tenants have already been evicted,a few including former mayor Pradeep Chhabra,RTI activist Hemant Goswami,a builder and another consultancy chose to take legal course against CITCO and engaged in legal battles.

CITCO,on the other hand,wants the entire shopping arcade vacated in order to revamp the hotel and construct a health club,swimming pool,banquet hall and a nightclub in the basement.
