Come Saturday and the Chandigarh Institute of Performing Arts (CIPA) and Fools’ Paradise Productions will bring on stage French dramatist Jean Anouilh’s An Episode in the Life of An Author. Adapted by Ranjit Kapur and directed by Mohneesh Kalyan, the play is in Hindustani and an excellent example of Anouilh’s style that is entertaining and irresistibly theatrical. The humorous play has 13 characters and is experimental in nature. It aims to challenge people’s ideas of order in the world and everyday lives.

Director Kalyan explains, the play revolves around the day of an author who is being interviewed by a Bangladeshi woman press correspondent about his experiences as an author. During the interview, there are many interruptions which create humourous situations. “It’s a laugh riot and pure entertainment,” says Kalyan.

The one-hour play will be staged at Tagore Theatre on May 12 at 6.55 pm.
