The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday issued notices to the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) through Advocate General Haryana on an application filed by a petitioner seeking action against the secretary of HSSC for destroying the answer sheets of candidates and concealing vital facts from the court in its various affidavits.

Justice K Kannan issued the notices while hearing a case filed by one Raju Sharma in relation to the selection and appointment of mandi supervisors in the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board.

The petitioner, who did not succeed in the written test conducted by HSSC,had filed a petition in the HC seeking a direction to the HSSC to produce his answer sheets in the court. The court had sought a response from the authorities. However, during the pendency of the petition, the HSSC destroyed the records of the case.

The HSSC had taken the stand that the result of written examination was declared on May 31,2008,and it had destroyed the records on October 25,2008 as per its policy to destroy the records after three months from the date of result of selection.

The petitioner has alleged that the result of final selection was declared on August 23,2008,while the records were admittedly destroyed by HSSC on October 25,2008.
