(Express photo)“I made every effort to give new dimensions to the development of my constituency, and given Mukhliyana village an excellent gift of a government-run college,” Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from the Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha constituency, said addressing people in Mukhliyana under the Chabbewal Assembly segment, which he represented as the Congress MLA before joining the AAP in the run-up to the parliamentary elections.
Chabbewal said he understood the problems of his constituency and worked to solve them, and would continue doing so in the future.
“Apart from the government college, several roads have also been constructed in Mukhliyana. The road from Hoshiarpur-Phagwara to Attwal-Attowal by Rajpur Bhaiya to Mukhliyana to Bhungrani has been widened to 18 feet for 14.2 kilometres. Additionally, a new road linking Mukhliyana to Gurudwara Dabri Sahib has also been constructed, providing a relief to the sangat (pilgrims) going to the Gurdwara Sahib,” he said counting his achievements.
With such speeches in his every election meetings and rallies, Chabbewal has been making ‘Development’ as his main poll plank. He said the government college would provide students of all nearby villages an opportunity to complete their higher education in their area at a low cost. In Hoshiarpur, Chabbewal said, “My first goal is to bring development to the constituency. Now, development will reach every village and town under this Lok Sabha constituency.”
He assured people the coming times would be better for them, promising better facilities to them.
Chabbewal said, “AAP has provided significant relief to the common man, whether it’s reducing electricity bills to zero, improving the education standards in schools, or providing healthcare facilities.” He highlighted initiatives such as providing affordable medicines and tests through public clinics and facilitating scans and tests in government hospitals and also private labs conducting tests and scans at government rates.
He promised to resolve issues related to the healthcare sector given his background as a radiologist. In Fuglana village, Chabbewal said, “The work on the Waste Water Management Project at a cost of Rs 75.09 lakh in Fuglana village will be completed soon, and provide a relief to the people from contaminated water. The demand for a road from Fuglana to Rajpur Bhaiya, Mahala Baltoiyan, Makhsuspur, Bheduya, Saidopatti, Lihli Kalan, Jejon, etc., was pending for a long time. It has now been fulfilled. Development works will not stop in the future, and efforts will be made to address the problems based on the priority of the public demand.”
In Nangal Rangda village, after participating in the famous Susan fair of the Doaba region, Chabbewal addressed a gathering and said, “I always stood with the farmers, even contributing to their struggle against the three black laws. I visited Tikkri and Shambhu borders to provide ration and to boost the morale of the protesting farmers, even volunteering to cook langar for them.”
Chabbewal said he not only visited markets during the procurement of wheat and paddy but also launched a campaign to improve facilities in mandis such as providing chairs, fans, arrangements for cold water, first aid kits, ambulances, and fire brigade services for the convenience of farmers. “I was born in a village, so I understand the problems of farmers closely, and always prioritise their solutions,” he said. Raj said the AAP government in Punjab had taken revolutionary steps and provided significant relief to the people, including toll-free roads, free electricity and many other decisions.
In a rally in Phagwada, Chabbewal said, “The residents of Phagwada have been demanding the district status for a long time. They are confident that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will consider this issue seriously and deliberate on it.”
