Congress MLAs,some of them former Cabinet ministers,faced embarrassing moments in the Assembly during the Winter Session at Dharamsala last week. Reason: they came to the House without proper homework. When former speaker Gangu Ram Musafir tried to corner Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on his claim that Himachal got Big States Award for the first time,the Opposition found itself on a loose ground as Dhumal turned the tables on the Congress,posing counter questions. If your government ever got any award,please show me the shield. I will display it in my office,where all these are placed, said the CM.

The headmaster

Congress MLAs apparently have a headmaster in Delhi who is always watching their performance in the Assembly. The term is coined by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal for Union Minister for Steel Virbhadra Singh,who has been accusing the Congress of poor show in the state Assembly. Last week,when Congress staged a walkout over the fake marksheet scam,Dhumal shot back on the MLAs and declared: I know it is your compulsion (walkout) to satisfy the headmaster who is writing your ACRs from Delhi. A Congress MLA was later heard saying: Sir,even your lunch diplomacy (Dhumal hosted a special lunch for PCC president Kaul Singh Thakur the same day) seems to have failed to pay off.

Locally international

Manali,the sub-divisional headquarter of Kullu district,is internationally famous for tourism. The mediapersons based here have chosen to use this tag for the local Press Club,as they have named it Local International Press Club,Manali,which is now headed by Sanjay Dutta.
