High Court tells Nirmal Yadav not to try influence case

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday directed Justice (retd) Nirmal Yadav not to try to influence judicial proceedings of the bribery case,pending before the trial court,in any manner.

Justice Permod Kohli passed the directions during the resumed hearing of an anticipatory bail application filed by Justice Yadav. A special court of Central Bureau of Investigation had granted anticipatory bail to Yadav on August 27 after she had appeared before the trial court.

Advocate Anupam Gupta,special public prosecutor for CBI,apprised the court that since Yadav had been granted bail by the trial court the petition filed by her has become infructuous.

Justice Kohli enquired as to whether the trial court has imposed any conditions on the anticipatory bail. After reading the trial courts order,produced by Yadavs counsel,Gupta demanded that conditions,as are imposed in routine,shall be imposed.

Taking note of the request,Justice Kohli imposed conditions on the anticipatory bail.

Firstly,Yadav will not leave the country without prior permission of the trial court. Secondly,she will not tamper with evidence/witnesses in the case. Lastly,that she will not try to influence the judicial proceedings of the trial in any manner.

The Indian Express was the first to report that Yadav moved the high court seeking anticipatory bail on grounds that she has been made a scapegoat because her brother is a minister in the Haryana government.

She has also denied that Rs 15 lakh cash was delivered to her.
