The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) is in the process of identifying vacant residential and commercial plots that belong to it,across the state. The exercise to identify the vacant spaces was under taken last month by the urban body in an effort to determine the exact number of such plots in each of the states districts. The agency will later invite applications for the auction of such plots.
The initiative will make things clear about the vacant HUDA plots across Haryana. We hope that in next ten days,we will get the exact figures . And once we get the idea about these vacant plots,we will launch various schemes to auction them, said a senior officer at HUDA. The plots will be auctioned after a due process, he added.
Another officer in the development authority said the exercise will help in identifying property that has been illegally occupied or encroached upon. Also in some plots, there is an abundant growth of wild plants and at places the neighbours are scared to move out, especially during the night. Many of these vacant plots have turned into a safe zone for stray dogs which evoke fear in the neighbourhood, said a HUDA official in Panchkula . The official said they have been getting complaints of misusing of vacant property. But now we hope that we will get rid of such complaints to a large extent, he said.
