Haryana will launch an awareness campaign for the New Education Policy (NEP) on January 12, marking Swami Vivekananda Jayanti. The central government aims to implement the NEP by 2030, while Haryana plans to roll it out in 2025.
Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda said, “The state is fully prepared to implement the NEP. As part of the awareness campaign, seminars will be organised to gather feedback from educators at universities, colleges, and schools. Suggestions will also be sought online through audio, video, and written formats. Additionally, students will use street plays to spread awareness about the NEP.”
During a review meeting with Education Department officials on Tuesday, Dhanda emphasised Haryana should become a model for implementing the NEP across the country, and instructed the education department to prepare a detailed action plan for the purpose.
To engage students directly with the policy, Dhanda suggested setting up suggestion boxes in colleges, schools, and universities. “Based on the written suggestions received, a framework will be developed to improve the NEP. The seminars should be conducted in schools, colleges, and universities to ensure every student clearly understands the NEP.”
Recognising the role of digital technology in the modern era, the minister proposed creating an online portal for students enabling them to submit their suggestions. “This portal will also be open to the general public, educators and experts in the field of education, ensuring easy access for everyone to contribute. This will help prevent any difficulties for students in the upcoming academic session,” the minister added.
Additionally, he suggested appointing athletes, NCC cadets and talented students as brand ambassadors for the NEP. “Their influence will help students connect with the policy more easily,” said the minister.
The minister said the NEP’s goal is to include students from disadvantaged backgrounds in the education system. He instructed the education department to devise a strategy to ensure no underprivileged student is deprived of education.
