Haryana shines in UPSC Civil Services exam; Bahadurgarh lad secures 14th rank

Shaurya Arora has put Haryana’s Bahadurgarh on the map by securing 14th rank in this year’s UPSC civil services examination, the results of which were declared on Tuesday. He bounced back after he didn’t make the cut last year. Shaurya is a B.Tech in mechanical engineering from IIT Bombay.

Bhawesh Khyalia – from Bhiwani’s Jhanwari village – has secured 46th rank in the civil services exam, bettering his last year’s performance when he stood at 280th position.

Also, in 2023’s Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) examination for the state civil services, Bhawesh had secured 12th position.

Bhawesh told The Indian Express: “Instead of focusing on the number of hours, the aspirants should try to be consistent and regular in their studies without compromising their health.”

Bhawesh’s mother Sushila Khyalia is a schoolteacher, while his father Rajkumar Khyalia is a retired college principal. According to Bhawesh, his uncle in the extended family Yudhbir Singh Khyalia, a former IAS officer, has been a great source of inspiration to him.

Similarly, improving on her last year’s rank of 740, Pragati Rani from Kurukshetra this time has secured 355th rank in the UPSC civil services exam. As she belongs to the OBC category, she is hoping to get a place for the IAS this time.

In the HPSC examination for the state civil services (in 2023), she secured second rank by scoring 398 marks.

A radiologist by profession, Pragati got married to a medical professional (Dr Atul Verma) five years ago. Mother of a three-year-old son, Pragati, while speaking to The Indian Express, gave credit to her family for her stupendous performance in the UPSC exam.

Pragati’s father-in-law R C Verma, a former IAS officer, is currently a member of the Haryana State Police Complaint Authority.

A Sirsa resident, Komal Garg, has secured 221st rank in the UPSC exam this year. Former Lok Sabha member and BJP leader Ashok Tanwar went to her home to extend greetings on her performance.

Meanwhile, Haryana BJP leader Krishan Dhull’s son Akansh Dhull (23) has also cracked the UPSC exam by securing 342nd rank.
