Haryana Congress leader Divyanshu Budhiraja to marry Dr Aiana Gill on August 25
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Budhiraja lost by a margin of 2.19 lakh votes. After joining the National Students Union of India (NSUI), he became the president of the university’s student wing in 2014, and later, in 2017, was elected President of Haryana’s NSUI unit.

Haryana Congress leader Divyanshu Budhiraja (32), who unsuccessfully contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections against former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, is set to tie the knot with Dr Aiana Gill (31) in Chandigarh on August 25.
Budhiraja told the The Indian Express Dr Gill is a dentist. She completed her BDS from a college in Punjab, followed by her MDS from an institute in Himachal Pradesh. The couple first met at a wedding function in Mohali on May 27, and shortly after their families initiated discussions about the alliance.
Aiana’s father, Dr Amardeep Singh Gill, is a BAMS doctor who runs a clinic in Chandigarh. Her mother, Ginni Duggal, serves as the District Education Officer of Mohali.
Ahead of the wedding, Budhiraja has invited several prominent politicians, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, as well as Khattar, who is now an Union Minister, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Political Journey
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Budhiraja lost to Khattar by a margin of 2.19 lakh votes. He, however, made a strong impression by securing over 4.8 lakh votes.
Budhiraja first came into the public eye in January 2018, when he and half-a-dozen students raised slogans against then CM Khattar during his visit to a college in Panchkula. Following a brief confrontation, Budhiraja and his associate Hardik Nain were arrested.
Born into a Punjabi Partition family, Budhiraja pursued Engineering at Panjab University, Chandigarh, where he joined the National Students Union of India (NSUI). He became the president of the university’s student wing in 2014, and later, in 2017, was elected President of Haryana’s NSUI unit.
In December 2021, Budhiraja won the Haryana Youth Congress presidential election, defeating Krishan Satrod by a margin of nearly two lakh votes—one of the highest margins recorded in Youth Congress history.
