The Haryana government on Sunday announced that it would compensate farmers whose crops were damaged by floods across 1,402 villages in 12 districts of the state.

Farmers have been asked to register their crop damage claims on the e-Kshatipurti portal at the earliest to avail the benefit of the extended deadline of September 10.

Initially, the portal was launched for 188 villages across seven districts of Rohtak (21 villages), Hisar (85), Charkhi Dadri (13), Palwal (17), Sirsa (2), Bhiwani (43), and Rewari (7), according to an official spokesperson.

Subsequent extensions expanded the portal’s coverage to additional villages, bringing the total to 12 districts with the following village counts: Rohtak (41), Hisar (86), Charkhi Dadri (34), Palwal (59), Sirsa (6), Bhiwani (43), Rewari (7), Kurukshetra (75), Yamunanagar (all 600 villages), Nuh (166), Fatehabad (21), and Jhajjar (all 264 villages).

Farmers have been encouraged to report crop damage caused by floods, standing water and heavy rainfall.

District revenue officials will verify the claims submitted through the portal via a special girdawari — crop loss assessment — based on which compensation will be disbursed to the affected farmers.
