Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Wednesday inaugurated two tourism projects in northern Haryana — a hot air balloon ride in Panchkula’s Pinjore and water sport activities in Yamunanagar’s Hathni Kund barrage.

After taking the hot air balloon ride, Khattar said, “One trip of the hot air balloon was conducted during sunrise based on the wind conditions”. Five ministers, including Tourism Minister Kanwar Pal, and Speaker Gian Chand Gupta also took the ride.

“In Haryana, there are a lot of possibilities for tourism. In north Haryana, discussions on hot air balloons were going on for a long time with a company. However, it was not that viable initially. After having talks with the company, the hot air balloon has finally been initiated today. This is a service for high-end tourists”.

While inaugurating water sports activities at the Hathnikund barrage in Yamunanagar, Khattar drove a jet ski. He also inaugurated a park there.

In Yamunanagar, Khattar said, “I have been familiar with this area since 1984. This barrage joins four states — Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Today, we launched a water boat and jet ski in Hathni Kund barrage. We are also going to develop the area from Kalesar to Kalka at an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore to give a boost to tourism.”

In Morni Hills’ Tikkar Taal area, the state had already launched adventure sports, including paragliding, jet skiing, parasailing and trekking.

To enhance ecotourism in Morni Hills, recognition had already been given to trekking, mountain biking tracks and various other activities alongside water sports activities across various parts of Haryana. The forest department has promoted ecotourism in Morni Hills through initiatives such as camping, off-road travelling and visits to herbal gardens.

“Efforts are also underway to develop Dhosi Hills, a part of the Aravalli mountain range, as a pilgrimage site, as great sages like Chyavana Rishi resided here, giving the area spiritual significance. Moreover, studies are being conducted to promote air sports activities like paragliding,” the state government said in a press release.
