The Haryana Vidhan Sabha Wednesday adopted a resolution lauding the consecration at the new Ram temple in Ayodhya with the principal Opposition Congress supporting it. Haryana is the third BJP-ruled state after Gujarat and Goa to pass a resolution hailing the Ram temple construction.

Moving the resolution on the second day of the ongoing Budget session of the House, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, said, “Lord Ram serves as both an inspiration and a guide for us. Merely discussing his ideals reminds us of the lofty principles of public service established by Lord Ram, which greatly strengthen our democracy today.”

The chief minister said ‘Ram Rajya’ holds significant importance in Indian cultural and spiritual philosophy, representing the epitome of ideal governance. This concept envisions a society characterised by justice, equality, brotherhood and prosperity, he said.

“Shri Ram is our heritage, our civilization, and our culture. With installation of (Ramlalla’s idol) in Ayodhya after 550 years, strong waves of faith are rising not only from Kashmir to Kanyakumari but also among his devotees spread across the world,” Khattar said.

He said this achievement “has occurred during the auspicious time of Amrit Kaal, signifying favorable omens for realizing the ambitious vision of constructing a strong, inclusive, and prosperous India over the next 25 years”.

Today every Indian feels elated and proud, he said, adding, “On behalf of the people of Haryana, this House extends its gratitude to all those personalities who have contributed through their thoughts, words, and actions to this remarkable achievement”.

Khattar further said: “This House extends its heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has committed to building such a nation and has taken the courageous step of establishing the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya to fulfil this vision.”

Home Minister Anil Vij too credited the construction of the Ram temple to PM Modi. “We are fortunate that in our lifetime Lord Ram temple has been constructed. Many agitations were held in the past… During one such agitation, I was arrested in Lucknow and jailed for 15 days in Unnao.” Vij said.

Supporting the resolution, Leader of Opposition and Congress member Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Lord Ram belongs to everyone. Hooda, however, said that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s name too should have been mentioned in the resolution.

“It would have been better if the resolution would have mentioned who was the first one to open the gates (of the Babri Masjid). It was Rajiv Gandhi. The temple constructed now was also realised after judgment of Supreme Court. This should have also been acknowledged,” said Hooda.

Congress’ Kiran Choudhary said, “We support the resolution. ‘Ram hamare kan kan mein hain aur woh sari jagah virajmaan hai’,” she said.

Congress members Raghuvir Singh Kadian, Neeraj Sharma, B B Batra, Kiran Choudhary and Chiranjeevi Rao also supported the resolution.

JJP’s Ram Kumar Guatam said the Opposition should thank PM Modi for his efforts on Ram temple.

Independent MLA Balraj Kundu said, “I support the resolution from the core of my heart.”

The BJP members said the construction of a grand temple of Lord Shri Ram at his birthplace in Ayodhya is a historic and glorious achievement for the country.

The BJP MLAs also raised slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” in the House, which were reciprocated by several Congress members.
