After Vishwas Bhalla (83),Gurkirat walia (82) and Amit Prashar (74) propelled Chandigarh with their brilliant stroke-play,talented Gurinder Singh blasted an unbeaten knock of 111 runs to help his team post a total of 494 runs in the first innings against Ludhiana of the ongoing Punjab inter-district cricket tournament match being played for Katoch Shield held at the PAU grounds in Ludhiana. In reply Ludhiana were 65 for 2 in 36 overs.
Chandigarh resumed from overnight score of 286 for 4. Overnight batsman Amit Prashar could just add one run to his score of 72 runs before he perished. With his dismissal,southpaw Gurinder Singh joined Jaskaran Singh in the middle. The duo pressed on the accelerator button to propel Chandigarh to the huge total of 494 runs. Gurinder was quite severe in his approach and thrashed the Ludhiana bowlers all over the park. He swatted 111 runs in 142 balls while Jaskaran scored 29-ball knock of 42 runs. The duo added 69 runs for the seventh-wicket in 10.1 overs. Skipper Vishwas Bhalla,who had retired hurt overnight came on to partner Gurinder Singh for the eighth-wicket stand of 65 runs. The skipper made 83 runs. Amritpal Singh (3 for 71) and Baltez Singh (2 for 43) were the main wicket takers for Ludhiana. For Ludhiana,Sunny Pandey made 21 runs while Anil Sihag was unbeaten on18. Left-arm spinner Gurinder Singh scalped two wickets for Chandigarh.

Anmolpreet hits unbeaten ton
IT was not just Amitoze Singh who enjoyed scoring a century for Patiala,Anmolpreet Singh followed his senior and scored an unbeaten knock of 154 runs to take his team to first innings total of 368 runs against Jalandhar in a match being played at the Dhruv Pandove Stadium in Patiala. In reply,Jalandhar were 100 runs for the loss of one wicket.
Resuming from overnight score of 262 runs for 6,Anmolpreet’s unbeaten knock propelled Patiala. Anmolpreet carried on from his overnight score of 80 to register an unbeaten century. He was involved in a 81-run stand for the ninth-wicket with Rajwinder Singh (24). Being the dominant partner Anmolpreet contributed 56 runs in this partnership. For Jalandhar Shubek Gill (3 for 65),Varun Khullar (2 for 72),Taruwar Kohli (2 for 25) and Mandeep (2 for 47) shared the spoils. Jalandhar started their innings on a sound note with openers Bhupinder Singh and Mandeep Singh Junior putting on 79 runs for the first wicket before Bhupinder Singh was removed by Beant Singh for 42. At close of play,Mandeep was unbeaten on 41 along with skipper Taruwar Kohli (9). Jalandhar was100 for the loss of one wicket in 45 overs at close of second day’s play.

Mohali secure first innings lead
MEANWHILE in a match being played at the PCA Stadium,Mohali were 319 for the loss of five wickets in 111 overs in reply to Amritsar’s first innings total of 200 runs. Sunny Sohal (89),Mayank Sidana (76) and Sachin Sohal (54) were the main architects of Mohali. Resuming from overnight score of 68 runs,Mohali openers Sunny Sohal and Ankit Pursharthy put on 127 runs for the first-wicket in 40.3 overs. Sunny Sohal was trapped in front by Vinay Chaudhary for a well compiled 89 runs off 131 balls. Ankit Pursharthy left soon after for 35 runs. Thereafter,Sachin Sohal and skipper Mayank Siddana put on 131 runs for the third-wicket before Sachin Sohal was snapped by wicket keeper Mohit Handa off Kamal Passi for 54. Mayank Sidana played well for Mohali and contributed with 76 runs. At close of second day’s play,Bir Virk (34) and Harsrup Singh (8) were at the crease with the teams total reading 309 for 5 in 111 overs. Mohali secured a first innings lead of 119 runs with five wickets in hand.
