Held for grenade attacks on two police posts, accused now wanted in Chandigarh Sec 10 grenade blast case

The special NIA court of Chandigarh has issued production warrants of Abhijot Singh, the alleged mastermind of hand grenade attacks on two police posts at Batala and Gurdaspur, in connection with the Sector 10, Chandigarh, grenade blast case.

The special NIA court of Alka Malik has issued the production warrants of Abhijot Singh for April 7, 2025, directing the Superintendent, Central Jail, Gurdaspur, to produce him before the Chandigarh court.

The orders were issued on the application moved by the investigating agency (NIA) for issuance of production warrants (for seeking police custody) of accused Abhijot Singh, alias Bubby.

As per the NIA, the name of Abhijot Singh has surfaced in disclosure statement of co-accused Rohan Masih. It was also pointed out by the public prosecutor of NIA that he was not named in the FIR, but now sufficient evidence has been collected regarding his involvement in the crime.

On hearing the matter, the court allowed the application since the accused is now wanted in this case and is currently lodged in the Central Jail, Gurdaspur, Punjab.

“Let accused Abhijot Singh, alias Bubby, be summoned through production warrants for April 7, 2025, directing the Superintendent, Central Jail, Gurdaspur, to produce him before this court,” ordered the court of NIA, Chandigarh.
The NIA has already chargesheeted four accused, including US-based gangster-turned-Khalistani Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, and Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda, who allegedly orchestrated the attack from abroad.

The incident took place on September 11 last year, when a hand grenade was thrown at a house in Sector 10-D. The UT Police initially investigated the case before transferring it to the NIA due to its suspected links with cross-border terrorism.
