With the paid parking lots at Fun Republic and tourist bus parking at Manimajra finding no takers,the Municipal Corporation will now auction the two lots together as one entity. The decision was taken at the Finance and Contract Committee on Friday. The committee decided to fix the reserve price of the parking lot at Fun Republic at Rs 16.38 lakh,which is 75 per cent of the previous bid amount,while that of the tourist bus parking was fixed at Rs 6 lakh. The previous auctions had no contractor willing to take up these parking lots,saying the reserve price was too high. The tourist bus parking lot has found no takers since it was constructed. The committee also decided to provide a water feature in Sector 24 in the shape of a three-tier wedding cake. An amount of Rs 21 lakh was approved for this. Paver blocks will be laid in Sectors 30,47 and 56,for which around Rs 91 lakh was approved. Besides,multi-play equipment will be provided in Sector-27 parks. The committee also approved air-conditioning system at Janj Ghar in Sector 47. As many as 10 watch towers will be constructed along the boundary wall for security purposes at Sector-39 water works. Lights will be provided on V-5 roads in Sector 22 at a cost of Rs 16 lakh. In another decision,the ladies wing of the Chandigarh Citizens Association,Sector 21,has been given permission to hold meetings once every month. A discussion was also held on the projects pending due to non-availability of material,a final decision on which will be taken during the House meet on Monday.
