Ferozepur chief agriculture officer suspended over hoarding of DAP fertilizer

Ferozepur Sub-Divisional Magistrate raided a warehouse and seized 161.8 metric tonnes of DAP, amid reports that the fertilizer is being sold in black market due to shortage.

Ferozepur Chief Agriculture Officer was placed under suspension on Thursday, a day after 3,236 bags of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer, unauthorisedly stored in a warehouse in Punjab, were recovered during a raid.

Punjab Financial Commissioner (Development) Anurag Verma took action against Jangeer Singh as the Chief Agriculture Officer reportedly failed to give a satisfactory reply regarding the hoarding of DAP fertilizer.

Ferozepur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ranveer Singh on Wednesday raided Sachdeva Traders and seized 161.8 metric tonnes of fertilizer, amid reports that DAP is being sold in black market due to shortage.

The charge of Ferozepur Chief Agriculture Officer has been handed over to Fazilka Chief Agriculture Officer Sandeep Kumar.

Verma has also ordered Ferozepur Deputy Commissioner to register a case against the warehouse owners under the Essential Commodities Act after seeking the advice of the District Attorney.

Deputy Commissioner Deep Shikha Sharma had ordered raids at all the storage space to check unauthorised storage of DAP.
