Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) leader Sarwan Singh Pandher Tuesday said that a group of 101 farmers will make a fresh attempt to march to Delhi from Shambhu border point of Haryana on December 14 as “there has been no message so far from the government side” for holding talks.

The decision to was taken in a meeting of the KMM and the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political).

“We did not want farmers to be blamed that they do not want to hold talks to find a way out. We gave time… but there has been no message from the government (Centre) side for talks. So, the path to agitation is open. Now, the decision taken by both the forums is that our next jatha will leave on December 14 for Delhi,” Pandher said at Shambhu.

Earlier, the agitating farmers had made two attempts — on December 6 and 8 — which were thwarted by the Haryana security personnel who fired tear gas shells and used water cannons to disperse them. A total of 22 farmers injured.

Farmers have been camping at Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13 after their march to Delhi was stopped by security forces.

Tejveer Singh, spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union Shaheed Bhagat Singh-Haryana, said, “On December 13, the morcha will complete 10 months. We will organise a protest rally at both the border points. This is the reason why we chose December 14.”

Meanwhile, SKM (non-political) leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s fast unto death entered 15th day Tuesday. Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar told reporters at Khanauri: “Doctors are monitoring his vital signs. He has already lost 11 kg and his blood sugar levels are fluctuating. Doctors are worried about his health.”
