It’s a family of toppers.
Five years after his brother clinched All India rank 1 in the JEE Advanced and bagged a job in Hongkong, it was yet another proud moment for the family when Raghav Goyal clinched All India rank 4 in the JEE Advanced, results of which were declared on Sunday.
Raghav, a student of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 15, Panchkula, is happy to have his brother around. “I am glad that my brother is also here at the moment. In 2018, he had scored AIR 1 and taken admission to IIT-Bombay,” Raghav said.
His immense interest in Mathematics and Computers pulled him to become an engineer.
Aiming for admission to the IIT-Bombay now, Raghav had secured AIR 20 with a score of 100 percentile in JEE Mains 2023.
Raghav’s father Pankaj Goyal, who has done his BTech from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh and now runs a pharma company in Panchkula Industrial Area, remembers his days of preparation. He has worked as ITS officer in the Government of India before going ahead to start his own company.
“When I had appeared, at that time it used to be JET and I had secured AIR 31. That was a moment I had never thought that my kids will rather secure AIR 1 and AIR 4,” Pankaj said.

Raghav’s mother Mamta Goyal, who is a co-owner in the pharma company, too is excited over her boy’s score.
“Raghav’s elder brother got an offer in Honkong and is working there now. We are glad that he too is here in this moment of happiness,” Pankaj added.
Raghav’s brother Pranav had scored AIR 1 in JEE Advanced of 2018. He had pursued his BTech from IIT-Bombay.
On Sunday, there were dholis at the family’s residence to celebrate the achievement.

While elaborating on his preparation, Raghav said, “In total, I would study for around 10 hours. I feel that having interest in what you study is highly important. As I have interest in mathematics and computers, I want to create something new.”
Raghav took coaching from the Allen institute.
Raghav has also represented India in IOAA 2022 (International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics) that was held at Georgia from August 14 to 21 and won gold medal and a special prize.
Not just this, he has also been selected to represent India in the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2023) to be held in Tokyo from July 10 to 17. He has also qualified for the Indian Chemistry Olympiad 2023 (INChO 2023) and Indian Mathematics Olympiad 2023 (INMO 2023), other than qualifying for NTSE (stage II) held by NCERT & getting NTSE Scholarship.
“We have been rather blessed to have both our sons securing such top ranks,” Pankaj said.

Moulik Jindal, AIR 19
Moulik Jindal too made the city proud by clinching All India rank 19. A resident of Sector 46 in Chandigarh, he too is a student of Bhavan Vidyalaya. His father said they skipped every family event and even a vacation to ensure that Rohit did not feel he is deprived of something.
While speaking to The Indian Express, Moulik’s father Rohit Jindal said, “He was so focused that we knew he would make it. We never pressured him. Rather, as parents we would just motivate him and tell him to do as much as he can so that he doesn’t feel he is deprived of anything. Our entire family neither went on a vacation for the last three years nor attended any family event.”
Rohit is into computer business while his wife Rekha Jindal is a housewife.
Moulik would study for eight to 10 hours every day and is interested in computer science. His brother Sanchit too is in IIT-Bombay.

“Hardwork, consistency is highly important if one wants to achieve his or her aim. My parents and my teachers really supported me throughout the journey,” he said.
Happy about the son’s achievement, the family is planning a vacation soon to celebrate the success.
Moulik scored AIR 75 in JEE Main 2023 and has qualified in NSEP (Physics), NSEC (Chemistry), NSEA (Astronomy), and pre-qualified for IOQM (Mathematics Olympiad), KVPY Scholar & NTSE Scholar. He also got selected for chemistry and astronomy OCSC camp.
In his Class 12 board examinations, Moulik had obtained 95% marks.
Kamyak Channa, AIR 31
Kamyak Channa, a resident of Dhakoli in Zirakpur, bagged All India rank 31. A district-level chess player, Channa had scored AIR 21 in the JEE Mains.

Channa’s father Jitender Channa works as a manager with the HDFC Bank at Naraingarh while mother Latika is a teacher with a private school.
To crack the exam, Jitender would ensure that he is off social media.
“To relax myself, I would either go for a stroll with my friends or play chess. I would ensure that I put in around eight hours of study. More than the number of hours you put in, you should focus on quality hours,” Kamyak said.
Kamyak studied at DAV School in Sector 8, Chandigarh, and wants to pursue computer science engineering from IIT-Bombay.

Harsh Taya, AIR 68
Harsh Taya, a resident of Sector 34, Chandigarh, and a student of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, scored All India rank 68 in the JEE Advanced results.
Harsh is a student of Sri Chaitanya Institute, Chandigarh.
Harsh said that the hard work put in has finally paid off. “My teachers and my parents deserve a special mention without whom this feat couldn’t have been achieved. My parents kept faith in me and always encouraged me.”
Harsh’s parents are government school teachers. He would invest 10-11 hours of study and wants to take admission in IIT-Delhi.
Harsh stated that to give himself breaks in the study hours, he would watch animated videos on YouTube to relax his mind.

Harsh’s parents are a happy lot. “Today, as our son achieves a significant milestone in his journey, it is a proud moment for us. The trust and belief we had and the sacrifices and determination have paved the way for him to succeed. It is a very proud moment for us,” said Harsh’s parents.
