The JEE (Main), the gateway exam for admission to the NITs, will be held over five days between July 18 and July 23. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate medical programmes will be held on July 26.

JEE Advanced: The number of females appearing and clearing the JEE Advanced is low as compared to male candidates. Out of those who are offered admission at IITs, many females opt out due to social constraints - despite supernumerary seats and separate merit list. Experts claim the situation can be improved by having equal opportunities and training at the school-level.

JoSAA 2019: Candidates who have cleared JEE Mains can seek admission to all the colleges except IITs. For IITs, one has to clear JEE Advanced. Eligible can apply at josaa.nic.in. Once filled, the choice of the institute cannot be modified.

Out of 4451 students from Navodaya Vidylayas who appeared for JEE Advanced, 966 students successfully cleared the examination .

The total number of female-only seats across all IITs is 2,415; whereas the total number of women who have qualified in JEE (Advanced) 2019 is 5,356, said Sumeet Agarwal, nodal officer, JEE women helpdesk. He informed that parents do not send their daughters to far off campuses and restrict the choice of course based on gender.
