Fake currency: Two sentenced to 4-yr imprisonment

A local court on Saturday sentenced two youths to four-year imprisonment in a fake currency case.

A local court on Saturday sentenced two youths to four-year imprisonment in a fake currency case. Additional District and Sessions Judge Preeti Sahni pronounced the verdict.

The accused Pargatjot Singh and Amardeep,both in their mid-twenties,belong to well-off families based in Amristar and were staying as paying guests in SAS Nagar.

\Pargatjot,an engineering student,is the son of a government school teacher while Amardeep,who had done engineering,is the son of a businessman.

They were arrested by the police from Sector 42 in May last year.

Fake currency amounting to Rs 20,000 was recovered from the two youths. The fake currency notes recovered from the accused were in denominations of Rs 50 and Rs 100.

Police also recovered a scanner,computer and printer with which these notes were made.
