Education Testing Service (ETS) has announced the opening of seven new test centres in Punjab, to facilitate access for TOEFL and GRE test takers. The new centres will be established in Bathinda, Jalandhar, Patiala, Ludhiana, Amritsar, and Chandigarh, and will provide an optimal test-taking environment for candidates. These centres are expected to open this year, and will be the first test centres to open in Bathinda, Jalandhar, and Patiala. As part of its celebrations for India@75, ETS@75, and India-UK ties, ETS has also announced the launch of the UK-India TOEFL scholarship for Indian scholars in association with the National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU). The scholarship, worth US$75,000 (approximately ₹60 lakhs), will recognize and support applicants who wish to excel in academics during their undergraduate or postgraduate years at a UK University. Selected candidates will get a chance to win a scholarship worth ₹2.4 lakh each. Interested applicants can find more details on www.toefltest.in Mohammed Kousha, Vice President of Global Growth and Languages at ETS, said that Punjab is a growing market for the company, and they are keen to provide additional support and access to test takers to accommodate the increasing demand. The new test centres will not only provide support for test takers but also for ETS's growing network of study abroad and immigration consultants. In January 2023, ETS India and Lovely Professional University (LPU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to empower LPU students by enhancing their proficiency skills in tests like the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE). Additionally, ETS has recently made several other announcements, including an enhanced TOEFL iBT test, dedicated customer service centre for India, and INR payment options, among others, which will begin from 26 July. The updated versions of the TOEFL iBT Free Practice Test and TOEFL iBT Practice sets will also be available on the TOEFL website in the next few weeks.
