E-comm sites to not accept firecracker sale in Chandigarh: Administration
The sale will only be through licensed traders and that too of the permitted firecrackers.

Flipkart, Amazon, and other e-commerce sites will not accept any online order and effect online sale of firecrackers in Chandigarh. This was issued in an order by the Chandigarh administration that also restricted the timings to burst crackers on Dussehra, stating that it can be done “only within the two hour window of 4 pm to 6 pm.”
An order in this regard was issued by the District Magistrate on Monday. “…Only green crackers certified by CSIR-NEERI would be allowed for sale and use in the Union Territory. Sale and use of joined fire crackers (series crackers or laries) even if failing under green category is hereby banned as they cause huge air, noise and solid waste problems,” the order said.
It was further said the sale will only be through licensed traders and that too of the permitted firecrackers. “No e-commerce website, including Flipkart, Amazon shall accept any online order and effect online sale of firecrackers within the jurisdiction of Chandigarh. On Dussehra, the use of firecrackers would be allowed strictly from 4 pm till 6 pm, on Diwali, from 8 pm to 10 pm, and on Gurupurab, from 4 am to 5 am and 9 pm to 10 pm,” the order mentioned. The orders also said that fireworks are not to be burst in silence zones, i.e., an area at least 100 metres away from hospitals, nursing homes, primary and district healthcare centres, educational institutions, courts, religious places, or any other place are that may be declared as silence zone by the authorities.
“All the concerned government agencies tasked with the implementation of these orders and particularly the police shall ensure that fireworks take place only during the designated time,” it stated.
“SHOs of concerned police stations shall ensure that no other firecracker except green cracker is used in effigy burning. These orders shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders. Any violation of aforementioned orders shall invite immediate penal action under section 188 of IPC along with other relevant acts,” the order mentioned.
