For litigants,lawyers and other people visiting the district court in Sector 43 of Chandigarh,there will be more facilities to avail from December 1. With seven new shops and a canteen opening,many requirements of the visitors will be taken care of at the court complex . At the auction held on November 18,seven shops including confectionery,books and stationery shops were allotted. Also,two shops providing photocopying,printing and internet services will be available. Currently,apart from the canteen in the service block,which has very limited options,there is no other place where visitors can eat. Litigants have to go to the Sector 43 ISBT,which is walking distance from the court,to purchase eatables. For services like getting a phone recharged,one had to visit shops at ISBT. However,now there will be two confectionery shops and other shops catering to these needs. For the health conscious,there will be a juice shop offering different types of fruit and vegetable juice. Also a book shop selling law books and stationery will open soon. The most important addition still remains the new canteen. Currently,the canteen in the service block has limited things on offer and prices of eatables like samosa and other snacks are arbitrary. The new canteen will boast of burgers,sandwiches,samosas,hotdogs,patties,pizzas and beverages like tea,coffee and juice. We will try to provide the best service to customers and ensure that fresh food is sold at our canteen, said Inderpal Singla,owner of the new canteen. You cannot even find a biscuits or chips at the canteen. You have to depend on samosa or bread pakora,which is often stale, said Anil Gupta,a litigant and a frequent visitor to the court.
