Diljit mania grips Chandigarh

With over 50,000 attendees, it promises to be the City Beautiful’s biggest concert ever

Excitement has reached a fever pitch in Chandigarh as singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh prepares to perform at the Sector 34 ground on Saturday evening. With over 50,000 attendees expected, a massive police force has been deployed to manage the crowd and ensure law and order.

Key routes leading to the venue will be locked or restricted, with traffic diversions in place from 4 pm onwards, according to a Chandigarh Traffic Police advisory. The concert is not just attracting city residents but also fans from across India, including some travelling from as far as Bengaluru.

Tickets selling for lakhs

On Zomato Live, the official ticketing partner for the concerts, the pre-sale tickets went live on September 10, followed by the general ticket sale on September 12. The tickets were sold out within a few minutes. However, some resale ticket portals listed tickets for his concert at 50-80 times the original price.

The ‘Dil-Luminati India Tour 2024′ kicked off with a concert in Delhi on October 26. Several people who could not attend the event in Delhi are coming to Chandigarh to attend the concert on December 14.

Shreya Suman, a student of SD College, says youngsters are ready to shell out any amount to attend the concert. “Some people who had bought tickets when the sale opened are making a killing now. Tickets for the very last row where you barely get to stand are going for around INR 20,000 now.”

Culinary delights at the concert

Popular food brands, including Super Donuts and Amsterdam Fries, have been selected as official food partners. They will set up stalls in designated blocks to serve snacks to the crowd.

“As the only brand from Chandigarh chosen for this prestigious partnership, we’re thrilled to bring both Super Donuts and Amsterdam Fries to the concert,” said Ketan Kalra, owner of Super Donuts.

With two stalls—one in the Silver section and the other in the Gold section—Kalra expects a memorable evening. “This is shaping up to be the largest and most electrifying concert the city has ever seen,” he said, adding that over 30,000 tickets were sold within minutes.

Kalra also mentioned that the excitement extends to their team. “Despite receiving over 50 requests for passes, we could only accommodate a few. Everyone is eagerly anticipating the event, and we’re sure concert-goers will enjoy our viral Amsterdam Fries and ever-popular Super Donuts.”

Fans eager to attend

Karanvir Singh, a city resident attending the concert with his wife Rupal and friends, said, “My wife loves Diljit Dosanjh, so we’re all going tomorrow. We also attended Karan Aujla’s event last week. It’s been an exciting December for us.”
