Dhillon-Mann group wins PSEB staff union polls

The Dhillon-Mann group made a clean sweep in the annual polls for electing the office-bearers of the Punjab School Education Board employees’ Union.

The Dhillon-Mann group made a clean sweep in the annual polls for electing the office-bearers of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) employees’ Union. In the keenly contested elections,Gurdeep Singh Dhillon was elected president,securing 633 votes against 414 polled by his nearest rival Parvinder Singh Khangura of the Employees’ Welfare Manch-Dhaliwal group.

Ranjit Singh Mann of the Dhillon-Mann group was elected general secretary,polling 573 votes and defeating his nearest rival Paramjit Singh of the Manch-Dhaliwal group who secured 434 votes. The majority of 15 executive members were also elected from the Dhillon-Mann group. A total of four rival groups of employees were in the fray. Of the total 1,757 votes,as many as 1,536 were polled at polling centres at Mohali,Bathinda,Jalandhar and Moga.

The polling,which began at 10 am,continued till 8.30 pm on Thursday,and the results were compiled late last night.

The other office-bearers elected included Jaswant Singh Brar as senior vice-president,D P Hoshiarpur as vice-president,Satvir Singh as junior vice-president,Rachbhinder Singh as secretary,Satnam Singh as joint secretary, Raj Kumar as finance secretary,Bant Singh Dhaliwal as office secretary,Gurcharan Singh as organising secretary,and Sukhwinder Singh as press secretary.
