Bhupinder Singh Sangatpura,personal secretary to Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon alias Kiki who defected to the Congress will now contest the Faridkot seat under the Peoples Party of Punjab (PPP) flag. After Kikis departure,PPP had lost a strong base in the area. However,with Sangatpuras candidature coupled with the fact that the Congress has not given the Faridkot ticket to Kiki,has revived the PPP cadre in this region. I have nothing against Kushaldeep Dhillon and would rather seek his blessings,good wishes and support for my election and victory. He is the one who took us to the PPP and now by winning the seat,I want to contribute towards making a PPP government in Punjab, said Sangatpura. He,however,has to contend with heavywieghts like Avtar Singh Brar of the Congress a three-time MLA from here and SAD(B)s Deep Malhotra,a first-timer in the area who enjoy huge backing in terms of money and muscle power. Sangatpura was a part of the chore group that left the SAD (Badal) along with Kiki Dhillon a year-and-half ago to join the PPP. However,the second time round when Kiki left the PPP to join the Congress,some of his supporters and loyalists like Sangatpura decided to stay back. With the entry of Sangatpura in the fray,Dhillons supporters,who were feeling cheated after their leader was denied ticket by the Congress,are now likely to side with him. This was also supported by the fact that Kiki,who had been holding small meetings garnerning support for the Congress,is now missing from the scene. He has not been seen with Congress candidate Avtar Brar in any of the rallies held by the party. With Kikis absence from the scene,his supporters are left with little choice but to side with the PPP and Sangatpura.
