The Delhi Police has booked an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer of the rank of Wing Commander posted in Ambala on the charge of rape. An FIR was registered at a police station in the national capital on December 1.
The woman has alleged in the FIR that the Wing Commander is married with two children and that she was kept in dark about his marital status by him.
She also alleged that the officer promised to marry her and took her with him during his temporary duties at various air force units in Jaisalmer, Phalodi and Pathankot in 2022 and introduced her as his wife.
The complainant further alleged the accused took her to his native place in West Bengal where an engagement ceremony was performed. According to her, when she later came across photographs of the officer along with his wife and children, she confronted him at his official residence in Ambala where he allegedly raped her on November 16. The officer is also alleged to have threatened her with dire consequences if she complained against him.
Meanwhile, the Wing Commander has approached Patiala House Court in New Delhi and obtained interim protection from arrest till January 3, 2024.
When contacted, the PRO Defence, Western Command, quoted IAF authorities as saying, “We are aware of the allegations and the FIR. The officer is fully cooperating with the investigation.”
