DBA approaches SSP,says 3 advocates harassed by SHO
The SSP has marked an inquiry into the case to another SHO.
The district bar association (DBA) on Tuesday met Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Naunihal Singh pertaining to a case of three advocates being allegedly harassed by Inspector Jaspal Singh,SHO of Sector-31 Police Station. The SSP has marked an inquiry into the case to another SHO.
In wake of a recommendation of the SHO to register a case against the three advocates,DBA had suspended work in the district court complex on Tuesday.
Ashok Chauhan,DBA president said,There was a property dispute between the gas agency,Sector 31,and the agencys landlords. The agency owner had filed a complaint against three advocates, who were handling the case.
Chauhan added that the SHO was allegedly harassing the three advocates by calling them to the police station, time and again. On May 16,DBA met the DSP (south) and he asked the SHO not to investigate the case personally. We even gave a written plea to the DSP. But,the SHO,despite DSP orders gave a report in our case to the DSP, Chauhan said.
Following this, some of the DBA members met the SSP and told him about the matter. SSP has taken cognisance of the case and has marked an inquiry to the Sector-34 Police Station SHO.
I was asked for comments,so I submitted a report. I had called the advocates to record their statements, said Inspector Jaspal Singh.
