Day after brawl in coaching centre,students stabbed

Two school students were stabbed by a group of unidentified assailants in Sector 19 on Wednesday. The incident,which left both of them with grave injuries,was fallout of a brawl on Tuesday,the police said.

The police said the assailants attacked the students at the behest of their fellow students,who wanted to “settle scores with them”.

Both the victims are students of Class XII.

One of the injured,Lalit Kumar Kadiyan,is son of a Chandigarh Police Head Constable.

He studies in Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS),Sector 22.

“After my pre-board exam,I went to meet my friend Ravi,who studies in the Sector-19 school. We were on foot and had just reached the rehri market when eight to ten assailants attacked us,” Lalit,who was stabbed in arm,said.

Refusing to divulge any names,Lalit said it was the handiwork of his fellow students with whom he had a scuffle in the coaching centre on Tuesday.

“All the accused were drug addicts. They were not school students,” Lalit said.

The second victim,Lalit Chowdhery,said he was just passing by and was attacked without any fault of his. Chowdhery is a student of GMSSS-19.

“I was going home when I saw the scuffle. I went towards the spot and was attacked. The accused didn’t know me,yet I was stabbed. I was just standing there,” Chowdhery,who suffered a head injury in the attack,said. “I have no enmity with anyone. I don’t even know the other victim.”

After the incident,the students were rushed to GMSH,Sector 16.

“It is primarily a case of prior enmity. The students are changing their statements and not cooperating. We are investigating if the accused were school students,” Inspector Ram Gopal,SHO of the Sector-19 police station,said.

The police have registered a case under Sections 323 and 506 of the IPC against the accused.
