DAV-15 team wins national debating contest

Four students of DAV Model School,Sector 15,won the oratory programme organised at the IIT Madras by Debating Matters India held by the British Council.

Four students of DAV Model School,Sector 15,won the oratory programme organised at the IIT Madras by Debating Matters India held by the British Council. It was declared the best team at the all-India level and qualified for participation at international platform. The winners were Sanchit Kumar,Shivan Kaul Sahib,Kamaal Singh Dhillon and Adiyta Vij. The school team would travel to London to participate in a showcase debate with the UK champions. While the winner was DAV Model School,Symbiosis College,Pune,was the runner-up team.

Before qualfying for finals,the team had to go through rigorous qualifying rounds. In the final round the team had to go through three rounds to reach the winning level. The participants had to make intensive efforts as it was content based judgement,the principal of the school Dr Rakesh Sachdeva while congratulating the students said,“It is an achievement for the students and the school. It was a very rigorous competition as professionals from all walks of life — journalists,corporate,artists,scientists and entrepreneurs play a very significant role in the ‘impression based judging process’ they prepare extensively from the preparatory material and judge students on content,logic,argument and clever wordplay.”

Eight schools from across India competed for the Debating Matters India championship,where students debated on contemporary issues that are affecting the world.
