The Chandigarh Aam Aadmi Party that has been opposing the setting up of a new waste plant at Dadumajra, which was passed without discussion, stated that “the Goa study tour is nothing but a way to bribe the councillors to agree on the setting up of a new waste plant at Dadumajra itself”.

The AAP stated that this is happening even when the UT Administrator had himself rejected the study tour to Goa last year.

Leader of Opposition in MC Damanpreet Singh stated that “initially, the Administrator did not listen to area councillor Kuldeep Tita, nor took him into confidence” and refused to budge. “I don’t understand why they are hellbent on wasting the public money. It is not a study tour for the councillors of Chandigarh, but a misuse of people’s tax money. I would call it a way of giving bribe by spending more than Rs 1 lakh on each councillor to show them the plant,” Singh said.
