Crowd all eyes for Hema,no ears for BJP leaders

When asked why she skipped the corruption issue in her speech,Hema said,“I was too confused because of the huge rush on the stage. There was hardly any space even to keep a footstep. The noise and air pollution because of fireworks did not help either.”

The rush was such that she was pushed even by Akali Dal and BJP workers who wanted to get themselves clicked with her.

Clad in a long kurta and pajama with a pink dupatta,Hema started her speech by saying,“Satsri Akal. I used to think that only Dharamji is Sher-e-Punjab but today I got to know that even Satpalji is Shere-e-Punjab. You must vote for him and also all BJP candidates to make them victorious.” Her five-minute speech stressed works done by Satpal Gosain in the area and the issue of female foeticide.

“I love Punjab’s air,and also its food. I came via Sahnewal in a flight. I hope you all remember Sahnewal,” said Hema and the crowd roared,“You are our dear Bhabhiji.” People from all age groups came to have a glimpse of the actor. Apart from the huge crowd at the rally,people were jostling for space even on roofs and treetops.

“I have nothing to do with the rally. Today I only came to have a glimpse of Hema Malini. I even clicked her picture on my mobile,” said Ramu Kumar,one of many spectators in awe of the star.

Many spectators wanted to hear a few film dialogues from her,but a visibly upset Hema said,“I have come here only to campaign for Satpalji. So film dialogues will be on some other stage.”

Initially,Hema had refused to start her speech until the fireworks show was stopped.Gosain himself had to give his speech amid fireworks and he later said,“Please stop bursting fireworks for God’s sake.”

Gosain,who is a big fan of the actor,had organised this rally in the Janakpuri Main Market by blocking the road. Due to this,shopkeepers had to close their shops for half a day. Gosain defended himself by saying,“I know shopkeepers’ business must have suffered,but at the same time you all must have enjoyed as well.”
