Unhappy with the Patiala Municipal Corporations orders to demolish an illegal building near Focal Point owned by him,the municipal councillor of Ward 11 allegedly threatened to kill the Building Inspector of the civic body on Thursday. In a letter to his seniors,Building Inspector Upinderjit Singh alleged that Shiromani Akali Dal councillor Sukhdev Singh threatened him with dire consequences, when he had gone to inspect the site on the orders of the Corporation. Even as no case was registered against the Akali councillor,Patiala Municipal Commissioner M S Narang reportedly directed the demolition of the illegal building raised by the councillor in Alipur Raian area of the town. While councillor Sukhdev Singh rubbished the allegations,Upinderjit Singh told Newsline: Councillor Sukhdev Singh said he would kill anybody who goes ahead with the demolition. I have reported the matter in writing to my seniors in the civic body. Even as Patiala Municipal Commissioner M S Narang was not available for comments,Mayor Ajit Pal Singh Kohli termed the incident as unfortunate. I have called the councillor and the inspector on Friday and will try and resolve any misunderstanding between the two. The matter is now being taken up by the employees union of the civic body that has threatened to launch an agitation if no action is taken against the councillor. A similar incident involving an Akali councilor had come to light only recently when councillor Kamaljit Singh Karwal allegedly beat up a tehsildar in Ludhiana.
