Two Himachal IAS officers — Desh Deepak (1983 batch) and Vijender Kumar (1987 batch) — who were compulsorily retired from service last week have knocked the doors of the Central Administration Tribunal (CAT),questioning the legality and fairness of the government’s decision.

Senior officials in the personal department said the tribunal, which had issued notices to the state and Central governments, was expected to hear the petition on Thursday.

“As far as we are concerned, both IAS officers are no longer in service. We have strong evidence against them and their service records will prove that the government had given them a fair opportunity to improve their working record. But they did not show any improvement,” said an official.
