Code of conduct to adversely affect agri operations’

“The Gurdwara Election Commission should reconsider imposing the code of conduct like assembly and parliamentary elections as it affects the overall development works adversely,” Punjab Mandi Board vice-chairman Ravinder Singh Cheema said on Friday. Arrival of paddy crop in mandis is heavy during October and due to shortage of godowns,a large amount of agricultural produce is stacked at mandi platforms. “In view of this,Punjab mandi board had started a constructing new platforms and expanding the existing ones. But due to imposition of the code these works have to be stopped,” Cheema said,adding that the code should be imposed only with regard to activities concerning the SGPC.
