The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) is launching the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ a nationwide campaign to focus on the health and nutrition of women, adolescent girls, and children, from September 17 to October 2.

The campaign aims to strengthen early detection of diseases, improve access to essential health services, and empower families to adopt healthy lifestyles, ultimately building a healthier and stronger India. As part of this flagship programme, PGIMER will organise a mega health camp on September 17 at Zakir Hall.

“Women are the backbone of families, and their health determines the well-being of society at large. This abhiyaan is not just about screening but about empowering women with knowledge and access to care. We are committed to creating a culture where preventive health takes priority,” Vivek Lal, director, PGIMER, said.

The day-long camp will provide comprehensive health screenings for workers and their families, with a special emphasis on women’s wellness.

Services will include checks for anaemia, hypertension, diabetes, breast and cervical cancer, and general health assessments, with the camp designed to reach women at the grassroots level, ensuring timely diagnosis, counselling, and awareness. Awareness stalls will further highlight nutrition, hygiene, safe lifestyle practices, organ donation, and blood donation.

To reinforce the campaign’s preventive focus, the camp will also feature a healthy diet display, showcasing affordable and nutritious meal models to encourage better food choices for families. Under this initiative, at GMCH-32, too, a series of health initiatives aimed at promoting the well-being of women, with a special focus on vulnerable groups, are being done.

The events include screening of women for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), breast and cervical cancer, counselling on nutrition and pregnancy care and also mental health screening.
