Chandigarh holds its first LPG autorickshaw race

An LPG auto-rickshaw race ‘Jalwa Autowaale Ka-2009’ was organised on Saturday at Sector 34.

An LPG auto-rickshaw race ‘Jalwa Autowaale Ka-2009’ was organised on Saturday at Sector 34. The event,aimed at spreading awareness about the environment,was organised by Lion’s Club Chandigarh,Tiwana consultants and Tricity properties.

The contestants were first screened for their knowledge of first aid,traffic rules,situation handling skills and communication skills. The race constituted of different laps and obstacle clearance rounds. The winner,‘Jalwa King 2009’ received a cash price of Rs 1 lakh. The winner’s auto will also be fitted with the latest gadgets.

“The reason for organising an auto race is that we should be open to the alternative and environment friendly ways of transportation. The administration of Chandigarh has also appreciated the concept and given full support. The social organisations of Chandigarh like Deaf and Dumb,Mother Teresa Home,Old Age Home and Nari Niketan are also involved in this cause,” said Surrender Verma,Managing Director,Tricity Properties.
