Two days after two crude bomb blasts were reported outside a lounge and bar in Chandigarh’s Sector 26, the Chandigarh Police has arrested a person for allegedly threatening and trying to extort money from one of the partners of De’Orra.

The blasts that targeted Seville, a bar and lounge owned by rapper Badshah, and De’Orra, a club owned by Rattan Lubana, occurred early on Tuesday.

According to police, the FIR has been registered on the complaint of Nikhil Chaudhary, a resident of Patiala and 25 per cent owner of De’Orra, who complained against Arjun Thakur of Chandigarh. Chaudhary alleged threats of extortion by Thakur.

The complainant said he had sold 10 per cent share to Tek Chand Singla of Patiala and as per their memorandum of understanding, the latter was to be a silent partner without any interference in restaurant operations.

“Thakur has been taking advantage of my business disputes with Tek Chand. He forcibly wants to transfer my share in his name and previously also he had issued me verbal threats to extort money from me for being a partner in De’Orra Club,” the FIR mentioned.

The complainant further claimed that he was threatened by Thakur that in case he does not pay Rs 50,000 per month, he will be killed or badly injured, and due to this fear he even stopped visiting the club, but a few days ago he (Thakur) met me again outside my club and demanded money.

Acting on the complaint, the police have registered an FIR under Section 308(4) (extortion) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. During the investigation, the accused was arrested.
