Chandigarh administrator turns down panel for post of SSP (traffic)

According to sources, the administrator turned down the panel as all the three officers lacked required experience for the coveted post and they were promotee police officers.

UT ADMINISTRATOR Kaptan Singh Solanki has rejected the panel of police officers sent by the Haryana government for the post of UT Senior Superintendent of Police (traffic).

According to sources, the administrator turned down the panel as all the three officers lacked required experience for the coveted post and they were promotee police officers. The Haryana government had recommended the names of Ashok Kumar, Kiratpal Singh and Krishan Murari.

The administration has asked the Haryana government to send a fresh panel of officers who have been directly appointed as IPS officers. Sources said that the state government had agreed to send a fresh panel of directly recruited IPS officers for the post.

Confirming the development, UT Home Secretary Anurag Aggarwal said that the panel had been rejected on grounds of experience of the officers. The government had been asked to send a fresh panel of three officers, out of whom one would be selected for the post for a period of three years.

The term of the incumbent, Maneesh Chaudhary, a 2005 batch IPS officer of Haryana cadre, is coming to an end on May 7.

Chaudhary, who had joined the Chandigarh Police on deputation for three years on May 8, 2012, was given one-year extension in 2015 by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
