Chandigarh Administrator flags off new vehicles, distributes appointment letters to 19
Division, East Division and South Division, cover all the scenes of crime for the UT police.

While 14 candidates were given appointment letters for forensic consultants, five received for the post of constable on compassionate grounds during a flag off ceremony of newly inducted police vehicles at New UT Secretariat Building, Sector 9 on Tuesday.
Some of the inducted vehicles are mobile forensic investigation van, kavach, jammer, water canon vehicle. UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit distributed the appointment letters and flagged off the vehicles.
Dharam Pal, Adviser to the UT Administrator; Praveer Ranjan, DGP, Chandigarh; Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh; Dr Vijay Namdeorao Zade, Finance Secretary, Chandigarh; Nitin Yadav, Home Secretary, Chandigarh; and Raj Kumar Singh, IGP, Chandigarh,were also present on the occasion.
According to the details provided, the mobile forensic van will attend to all the heinous crime spots and any other crimes in which imprisonment is six years or more. With this van, which has latest scientific tool kits, police will able to prove almost all the criminal cases before trial court.
For the purpose of guiding investigation officer at spot about various scientific evidences, appointment letters to the 14 forensic consultants in different areas, biological, ballistic, chemical, psychological, and cyber, have also been given. Currently, three forensic scientific teams, Central
Division, East Division and South Division, cover all the scenes of crime for the UT police.
A senior officer said the jammer vehicle is purchased for the VIP security unit to provide security to the VIP / VVIPS. A kavach vehicle is purchased for Operation Cell to avoid the nefarious activities of terrorists/ insurgents in the UT. It is said that the kavach vehicle will be useful during the anti-terrorist operations especially in the vulnerable and outskirts areas of Chandigarh.
